A vest should sit snug across the chest without restricting your breathing, and it should not shift when you run downhill. Look for bounce-free front flask pockets, pockets you can reach while moving, and enough organised storage that your compression bandage, space blanket, phone and food each have a home you can find without stopping.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eCapacity comes second. Most Australian trail races with a mandatory gear list need somewhere between 5L and 10L.
