The Roasts

The Sambar

Sambar, like its name sake, is a heavy-hitting, full bodied dark roast with beans sourced from Papua New Guinea. Full-bodied with a bold flavour of dark cacao, molasses, raisins and toasted walnuts. With low acidity and high bitterness the Sambar is perfect for those who like a little more oomph in their coffee.

The Red Stag

Red Stag is D&Gs signature medium roast, again with beans sourced from a single estate in PNG. Medium bodied with flavours of chocolate, brown sugar and hint of spice and citrus. A medium level of acidity with low bitterness makes the Red Stag the perfect filter coffee.

Full Send

For those looking for a rich and smooth coffee experience, Full Send delivers with its bold chocolate and nut flavors, complemented by a hint of caramel sweetness. While it packs a punch, it's not as bitter as our Red Stag roast or as bold as our Sambar roast. Whether as an espresso with milk or a long black, the chocolate notes stand out wonderfully, while adding a nutty twist.

Top brew in the right format

As much as l like grinding and brewing my own coffee in the wild, I don't always like carrying and prepping all the gear. These are great for going light but keeping some great quality and another factor going toward conservations is always a plus. Love that it actually fits my stainless steel cup.

Reliable and easy to clean

This is my second BeFree filter as my first is nearing the 1000 litre limit. The flow rate is close to the advertised 2 litres per minute though I’m sure it will start to slow down after a few more uses as did my original. All in all, I like its functionality, ease of use and simplicity to clean. Pairs well with my CNOC 3 Litre bag.
