Hiking Tents

Hiking tents

A good tent is the difference between a proper night's rest and a long, cold slog through the dark. Our range of hiking tents covers everything from lightweight backcountry shelters to spacious family setups, so whatever kind of trip you're planning, you'll find something built to handle it.

For serious hiking, the MSR Hubba Hubba remains one of the most trusted lightweight 2-person tents on the market, and if you're weighing up your options, our comparison of the Mont Moondance vs the MSR Hubba Hubba breaks down which suits your style of trip best. We also stock the Mont Moondance 2-person tent, a proven choice for hikers wanting reliable protection without the extra weight.

Heading somewhere more exposed? Our write-up on using the Mont Supercell EX tunnel tent in New Zealand shows how it holds up in genuinely tough alpine conditions, and our guide on why a Tyvek ground sheet is the smartest upgrade for your tent is worth a read before you head out.

For bigger groups or family trips, our ultralight 4–6 person tipi tent is a standout, and you can see it in action in our pieces on family camping with the PAST Outdoors teepee tent and snow camping with the tipi tent.

We supply emergency services, military and outdoor education groups who rely on their shelter holding up in real conditions, and that same standard runs through every tent in our full range. Browse below and find the setup that's right for your next trip.

Guided South Island Serenity (NZ)

Having been to New Zealand a couple of times, and namely the South ISland, I knew when I booked this trip I was in for something special. For me the journey and the gear prep to get to the trailhead is one of the most exciting bits. Thankfully I'd picked up some LOWA boots, Fjallraven trousers, and an Exped mat in the lead up to this trip. Knowing that the trip was guided by the very team that kitted me out wiuth my gear gave me confidence I'd be comfortable for a few days on the trails. The pokey trails rambling amongst tree roots, occasionaly crossing creeks and rivers then opening up into stunning grassy basins sitting below snow capped mountains, what more could you ask for. We got it all on this trip (except snowfall). Dave and Seth knew the countryside well and ensured an enjoyable hike for us all. Would I do it again? Of course, in a heartbeat.

Past Outdoors Snake Bite Kit

The kit is well setup for its purpose, nice and compact in its case. Hopefully I will never need to use it but comforting knowing it’s there if I need it.
