Nalgene's story starts in 1949, when chemist Emanuel Goldberg founded the Nalge Company in Rochester, New York, producing plastic pipettes and lab equipment to replace fragile glassware. Scientists working in the field quickly discovered those same durable, leak-proof containers were just as useful outdoors as they were on a lab bench, and the reusable water bottle as we know it was born.
Nalgene bottles are still made in the USA today, and the brand continues to lead on sustainability, with their Sustain range made from Tritan Renew resin containing 50% recycled plastic, all while remaining completely BPA, BPS, and phthalate-free.
