Factors that can affect performance include air humidity and how well the down is distributed in the baffles (the latter involves vigorously shaking the bag prior to use)

Spark Pro Delivered in Freezing Alpine Conditions

I recently put the Sea to Summit Spark Pro Down Sleeping Bag through its paces during a VRA NSW Special Operations Rescue Unit alpine search and rescue exercise, where overnight temperatures dropped below freezing.

The Spark Pro performed exceptionally well. Despite the frozen conditions, it kept me warm and comfortable throughout the night, allowing me to get quality rest before another demanding day in the field. When you’re operating in a search and rescue environment, reliable sleep isn’t just about comfort—it’s about maintaining performance, decision-making, and safety.

The bag packs down incredibly small, saving valuable space in my pack, while still providing impressive warmth for its weight. For anyone undertaking alpine hiking, remote expeditions, or search and rescue operations where every gram counts, the Spark Pro is an outstanding piece of equipment.

Features I didn’t know I needed!

The Spark Pro -1 was the perfect bag for a recent shoulder season trip to NZ where low temps were expected but the grams mattered

After tossing up between this and a quilt; I went for the sleeping bag as it was rated to lowered temps, lighter and there is no stuffing around with straps and clips and drafts. The free flow zip system worked a treat as I was able to sit up and do admin in the tent without getting cold.

Would absolutely recommend this over a quilt any day!

Excellent ultra light bag, comfortable and warm enough for most seasons

Ideal for lightweight 3 season adventures

Ideal for weight reduction in the summer/shoulder seasons.
Just be careful when removing white tags about new condition down - as I removed them i noticed they were damaging the fabric - ise scissors rather than pulling them by hand. Hopefully it doesn’t prove an issue with longevity.
