Many moons ago a BBQ course was undertaken over 12 months, one night a week, along with three work colleagues. We learnt BBQ cooking but were not allowed to cooke either sausages or T Bone steak. We conquered the class, but the large, heavy & cantankerous BBQs conquered us. Fast forward to what now sits out on my balcony; a dated BBQ that looks like a mini Sputnik and has become an unwanted dust catcher. No loss! Fast forward to ‘the now’ of today. It’s a recently purchased extremely portable STOV BBQ & the STOV Charcoal Tray (a separate buy) for when a 2ndry fuel source is needed, and or, a different cooking technique is desired and used (think Hibachi style with Binchotan charcoal). Coming back to the STOV BBQ is, it’s as it says printed on the box ‘extremely portable’ - it’s the BBQ Meccano set - somewhat ‘flatpack’ like. Constructed out of stainless steel, it’s durable and robust, easy to maintain, and importantly, easy to keep clean - given food is involved in its use. It is portable and carried in its own satchel, similar to what a plumber would use in days past - like what I saw my grandfather use. If you are in a bind and low on gas - its usual fuel and burner - you can also get the ‘charcoal tray’ as a backup, and expand on your BBQ cooking style. Maintenance and cleaning is a doddle because the STOV is made from high quality stainless steel. In addition to its portability, physically it’s not too big and so, its footprint is just right. I first saw the STIV BBQ at PAST Outdoors. I was impressed - immediately struck by the enguiniety and simplicity in its design, setup and take down, and portability. I now own one, along with the separate charcoal tray. The rest is up to the end users imagination as to what food and technique can be cooked using the STOV. You should be pleased if you decide to own one.
