Fjällräven Splitpack 55L Bag Large

The Fjällräven Splitpack Large takes the same idea as the standard Splitpack and scales it to 55 litres — enough for a week or more.

A robust zip opens the bag completely, splitting it into two equally sized compartments with zippered mesh covers. At this volume that's the whole argument: a 55 litre duffel with one opening is a black hole, while two managed halves let you keep laundry, boots or damp gear away from everything else.

Made from water-resistant G-1000 HeavyDuty Eco in recycled polyester and organic cotton, with padding at the back and both ends to help it hold shape. Four tough webbing handles, plus padded shoulder straps for backpack carry.

Worth knowing before you buy

Heavy. G-1000 canvas buys decades of use, not a light bag. Compare with the 630 g Exped Tempest 70 below.
Check-in luggage. Too big for any cabin allowance.
Water-resistant only. Re-proof with Greenland Wax as needed.
Most expensive duffel we stock. You're paying for materials and construction.

Splitpack Large or something lighter?

Splitpack Large 55L — if organisation and longevity matter more than weight. Best-in-range for keeping clean and dirty gear apart.

Exped Tempest 70 — more volume at a fraction of the weight, and fully waterproof, but almost no organisation.

Splitpack 35L — same design, weekend size.

Common questions

How much is it in Australia?

$369.95. Official Australian stockist with local stock and full warranty support.

How is it different from the standard Splitpack?

Same split-compartment design, scaled from 35 to 55 litres. The Large suits a week or more; the 35L suits weekends and gym kit.

Why choose this over a lighter duffel?

Organisation and longevity. G-1000 HeavyDuty is built to last decades, and two managed compartments beat one cavern at this size. If weight is your priority, look at the Exped Tempest range instead.

Can I wear 55 litres as a backpack?

Yes — padded shoulder straps with ventilating mesh and a padded back panel. There's no hip belt, so treat it as short-distance carry.

Is it waterproof?

Water-resistant. G-1000 HeavyDuty Eco sheds rain and can be re-proofed with Greenland Wax, but it isn't a dry bag.

Will it fit as carry-on?

No. At 55 litres this is check-in luggage. The Vardag Splitpack 45 is the carry-on option in this family.

Cool comfort

Feels very light and airy while still feeling well made.

Women’s long sleeve Capilene

Purchased for a friends birthday as she wanted another of these shirts for sun protection. Lovely blue colour and light breathable material.

Sea 2 Summit Women’s Spark -9C Long

I needed a lighter and more compact 4 season bag to to upgrade my 25 year old -20C bag, to save weight and space for bikepacking and hiking. I am 172cm so purchased the long, and the women’s fit is amazing with all the extra room at hips and legs for side sleeping. I love the simplicity of this bag with just the one long zipper to open as a partial quilt for warmer weather. Tested it below zero and was toasty warm apart from some of the down shifting down my shoulders when side sleeping due to the vertical baffles. So light and compact. I am a cold sleeper so opted for the -9C with the full box baffles throughout. Very happy with my purchase! Please note this is for the Spark not the Ascent.

Such a awesome, light but warm hoodie. Perfect to throw in my pack in case the weather turns foul.

Super comfy and warm

Tested this below zero and it was comfortable and warm. Super light and compact for bikepacking and hiking. Easy to inflate. The material isnt too noisy and seems quieter than other brands. Very helpful staff when I was trying to decide between the mummy or regular. I am a side sleeper and this works perfectly.
