PAST Outdoors Originals Titanium Cup
A good camping cup does more than hold a brew. The PAST Outdoors Originals titanium cups are lightweight camping cookware that nests over your Nalgene bottle, heats on your stove and doubles as a small camping cookware pot. They're built on the classic military canteen cup, redesigned for modern hikers and campers who count grams.
This guide explains the two sizes, how they fit your bottle, how to use a titanium cup as a camping cookware pot, whether it works as a camping wine cup, and how to build a lightweight camping cookware set around it. Product details come from our product pages.

The short answer: which titanium camping cup?
- Lightest camping cup: the 300ml titanium cup, at 55g, fits over the base of a 500ml wide mouth Nalgene.
- Best camping cookware pot: the 650ml titanium canteen cup has a tight-fitting lid, measurements on the side wall and fits a 1 litre Nalgene.
- Fit matters: both cups fit wide mouth Nalgene bottles. The 300ml cup does not fit 500ml narrow mouth bottles.
- Pair with a stove: the Soto Amicus Stove and a Nalgene bottle make a compact, ultralight cooking system.

Why titanium for camping cookware?
Titanium is the favourite material of hikers who count grams. According to our product pages:
- Titanium construction offers excellent heat transfer.
- It's lightweight, with the 300ml cup weighing just 55g.
- It's a modern take on the canteen cup, a staple in the military for well over one hundred years.
- Both cups have folding handles, so they pack small and are easy to hold.
Camping cup: how it nests over your Nalgene
The cup fits over the base of your Nalgene bottle, so it takes up almost no extra room in your pack. The 300ml cup suits a 500ml wide mouth bottle, such as the Nalgene Tritan Sustain Wide Mouth 500ml, and the 650ml cup suits a 1 litre bottle, such as the Nalgene Wide Mouth Sustain 1L. Check you have a wide mouth bottle, because the 300ml cup does not fit 500ml narrow mouth bottles.
Camping cookware pot: cooking with a titanium cup
A titanium cup is a small but capable camping cookware pot. It's heatable, so you can boil water for a brew or a dehydrated meal straight on your stove. The 650ml version can be placed on any cooking surface, and its lid improves boil time. Measurements in millilitres and ounces are pressed into the side wall, which helps when you're adding water to a dehydrated meal.
- Pair it with a stove: our product pages recommend the Soto Amicus Stove with a 110g gas canister for a compact, ultralight system.
- Mind the heat: titanium transfers heat quickly, so use the folding handles when the cup is hot.
- Pack it smart: nest your stove and a gas canister inside the cup if they fit.

Camping wine cup: does a titanium cup work?
These cups aren't sold as wine cups, but they work well as a camping wine cup. Unlike glass, titanium won't smash in your pack, and it weighs next to nothing. The 300ml cup is a good size for a drink at the end of the day, and the 650ml cup is there if you like a bigger pour. A few things to know:
- Hot drinks heat the cup: titanium conducts heat well, so use the folding handles for hot drinks.
- Cold drinks are fine: it's a simple, light option for wine, juice or water.
- One cup, many jobs: the same camping cup boils water, holds a dehydrated meal and serves your evening drink.
How to clean a titanium cup
Titanium is easy to look after, and most of the time a quick wash at camp is all your titanium camping cup needs. Here's how to clean a titanium cup after a brew, a dehydrated meal or a night as a camping wine cup.
Everyday cleaning
- Rinse the cup as soon as you've finished, before food or drink dries on.
- Wash with warm water, a drop of biodegradable camp soap and a soft sponge or cloth.
- Rinse well, then wipe or air dry before packing it over your Nalgene.
Wash well away from creeks and lakes, and scatter the grey water.
Burnt-on food
- Soak the cup in hot water for a few minutes, or boil a little water in it to loosen the residue.
- Lift it off with a soft sponge or the back of a wooden spoon.
- Skip steel wool and metal scourers. They scratch the surface.
Tea, coffee and wine stains
- Rub a paste of baking soda and water over the stain with a soft cloth, then rinse.
- For stubborn marks, boil water with a splash of white vinegar in the cup, then rinse well.
Rainbow marks from heat
Heating titanium over a stove can leave blue, gold or purple tints. This is a cosmetic change from heat, and many hikers see it as a sign of a well-used cup. A wipe with diluted vinegar may soften it, but it doesn't need to be removed.
Keeping it in good shape
- Use the folding handles when the cup is hot, and let it cool before washing.
- On the 650ml cup, use a soft sponge over the measurements on the side wall rather than scrubbing hard.
- Dry the cup and lid before you pack them away.
