Valentines Day for Adventurers: How Dave Proposed on a Hike!
Valentine’s Day always reminds us of one of the most magical days in our lives. A few years ago, Dave proposed to Alli while we were exploring the Royal National Park. What made it even more special was that he was “pretending” to do a content shoot—just capturing a day out in nature—but little did she know, Dave had a plan that would change their lives forever.
A Memorable Valentines Day at PAST Outdoors
Dave prepping Radix meals for a 'content shoot' - so sneaky!
Surrounded by towering eucalyptus trees, the gentle sound of waves crashing against the cliffs, and the soft sunlight filtering through the canopy, it was the perfect backdrop for a truly unforgettable moment, and Dave popped the question right then and there on the edge of a cliff! Nature has a way of making even the simplest gestures feel extraordinary. She said yes of course, it was either a yes or a jump off a cliff, but she effectively did both!
The Great Outdoors for natural relaxation and peace of mind
There’s something truly restorative about being in the outdoors. Surrounded by nature’s sights, sounds and scents, we find a natural sense of calm that no screen or cityscape can replicate. Whether it’s a quiet morning by a creek, a gentle hike through the bush, or simply sitting under the shade of a tree, the outdoors offers natural relaxation and peace of mind—helping us reset, recharge and reconnect with ourselves and each other.

Our love for the Outdoors, extended across the globe
Valentine’s Day, for us, is a reminder of how magical the outdoors can be. It’s about creating memories, sharing meals, and embracing the beauty around us, as we try to do as a couple as often as we can. Whether we're canoeing, camping, hiking or trekking, what matters is that we're enjoying time in nature. Trips with our dog or our toddler may not always be 'romantic' but they're moments we get to spend in our favorite places together, and that's what matters most.

Make it tasty, and stay hydrated folks!
At PAST Outdoors we love to make every outdoor adventure special. On most occasions we grab our 'Date Night' Real Meals for a quick, romantic picnic, and stayed hydrated with our trusty Nalgene bottles.
Real meals- the ultimate Valentines Day/ Galentines Day or Date night meals. So good!
Cooking up something warm on the trail was a breeze with our Soto Windmaster stove and PAST Outdoors Originals Titanium Cup, giving us that perfect blend of lightness and adventure. We also sometimes take our trusty Jetboil Flash, depending on how far we're hiking and what we're carrying. We usually bring everything in our Osprey Packs that make trekking through the bush less hectic, while our PAST Outdoors Originals Truckers Hats keep the sun at bay.
If we're camping, we do not go anywhere without our PAST Outdoors Tipi Tent. There simply us nothing lighter or more comfortable for us all, especially in winter. The PAST Outdoors Tipi Tent is the perfect shelter for making outdoor memories, whether you’re planning a cosy getaway as a couple, a fun weekend with a group of friends, or a family camping trip under the stars.
With its spacious design and comfortable standing room, it creates a true home base in the bush—ideal for relaxing, sharing meals, and escaping the weather when needed. It’s the kind of tent that turns a simple campsite into an experience, giving us the space to connect, unwind, and enjoy the outdoors together without feeling cramped.
Garie Beach, Royal National Park NSW For peace of mind, we always take along a PLB or the Garmin Inreach, because safety is super important, even in the national park (and plan ahead to make sure you don't need to get rescued, would make for a sad V day!)
