The Barents Pro is a true workhorse. It's made from G-1000 Original (65% polyester, 35% cotton), which is wind and water resistant and made to take a beating. The rear and knees are reinforced, and the knees have openings for optional knee pads. There are six pockets, including a map pocket, a multitool pocket and an internal phone pocket, and the raw-length leg endings let you cut them to your own height. It's available in Black, Suede Brown and Dark Olive, in waist sizes 29" to 44".

Fjällräven Vidda Pro Ventilated Trousers Men's Regular

The Vidda Pro Ventilated takes the classic Vidda Pro and adds airflow. It's made from G-1000 Eco (65% recycled polyester, 35% organic cotton) and has generous hip-to-knee ventilation zippers so you can dump heat on the climb without giving up weather protection. You also get reinforced knees with openings for knee pads, a stretch gusset for mobility, a knife pocket on the right leg and an axe-holding loop at the waist, across six pockets in total. It has a slightly slimmer cut than the original Vidda Pro and weighs 565 g (size 48). Choose from Dark Olive, Laurel Green–Deep Forest and Dark Grey–Black.

Part tough hiking trouser, part stretchy trail pant. The front is G-1000 Lite Stretch, which resists abrasion and can be waxed for extra weather protection, while the full stretch back panel adds ventilation and freedom of movement. It has an elasticated waistband, side ventilation zips and preshaped knees, and weighs just 310 g. It comes in Suede Brown in a regular fit, from 29" to 42" waist.

Made for long days on the trail with a pack on your back. The Abisko Lite Long uses G-1000 Lite with four-way stretch panels and G-1000 HeavyDuty reinforcements on the lower legs. Long ventilation zippers run from the hips to the knees, the waist sits higher at the back for backpack comfort, and the fluorocarbon-free impregnation keeps the fabric water repellent. At 450 g (size 48), it comes in Dark Grey, with the long leg length suited to taller hikers.
